Ways To Stay Motivated When You Just Don’t Feel Like It

With enough work and motivation, you can accomplish almost anything. Unfortunately, it can often seem like motivation is in short supply. There will inevitably days when you don’t feel like getting out of bed or on which your only goal will be to sit in front of the television. When you have a reason to succeed, though, you really can’t afford these unmotivated days. Instead of giving in to your worst impulses, you should take the time to figure out how to stay motivated. The techniques below can help to lift you up when you’re feeling unmotivated.

Remind Yourself Why

Why are you trying to stay motivated? What is it that you want to accomplish? Make a list of the reasons why you are trying to accomplish your goals and look at those reasons when you are feeling down. While you are certainly going to have bad days and sometimes your motivation will flag, a reminder of why you’re working so hard will often be helpful. If you can envision exactly what you want, you’ll have a better chance to get it. Never lose track of your reasons in favor of just seeing the work ahead of you.

If you have decided to run every day to get in shape and you can’t make yourself get on the track, it might be a good idea to go run on a treadmill. If your goal is to work out every day, for example, allow yourself to make a small purchase if you successful complete a week’s worth of workouts. These small rewards can help to keep you motivated even when you are tired. While this kind of bribery isn’t ideal, it can help you to break through barriers.

There will always be days when motivation is hard to come by. Your goal isn’t to ignore these days, but rather to work through them. If you feel like you can’t be bothered to try, think about all of the techniques above. You have all the tools you need to accomplish your goals – all you might lack is the will to do so.
